Paul is a second generation driver. He grew up watching his dad Russ race at Dorney Park. It was then he knew he wanted to be a racecar driver. Paul started his career in July 2000. In just his fifth start, Paul finished second but was awarded the win after the winner failed post race inspection. Paul entered the 2001 season with one goal, win the championship. He won two races and accomplished his goal winning the 2001 Mountain Speedway Factory Stock Championship. He backed 2001 up with the championship in 2002 in grand fashion winning 11 of the 21 races. That success caught the eye of Street Stock driver Brian Fletcher who asked Paul to drive his car for the 2003 season.
